Be Our Guest

Is your Guest space ready?

It is almost that time! The countdown to the holiday season is coming to a close and those friends and family members will be knocking on your door. Whether you are hosting people for a day or week, hosting a party or even going to visit someone yourself, the guest spaces in our homes are becoming one of the most important rooms in the home (other than that kitchen to crank out delicious foods).

Is this a space that was on the forefront of you mind when designing your home? Probably not. Maybe more like an afterthought, if we had to guess. Maybe even a good place for the hand me downs from your master when you get new furnishings. (Gasp…. But we’ve all done it.)

Why? Maybe company is not a normal thing, maybe this is a shared space with other functions, maybe you’re exhausted from making sure the rest of the home is perfect and have just given up. Whatever the reason, we are here to help.

Here are some tips for making your guests feel welcome and wowed.

Go bold!

Why not use color, contrast and cool features to knock their socks off? Give them some fun and flair while traveling. Keep it bright and inviting by using white and black. But throw in some punches of color for fun. They aren’t moving in…. hopefully. So it is just temporary, all the more reason to design a memorable space with features and patterns you would not normally spring for?

Give them amenities.

What is more awkward than that early morning coffee run in with your guests in the kitchen while still in your PJ’s? Why not equip their space with its own coffee maker and mini fridge? This is an unusual addition that will surely wow your company and keep them out of your space for at least that first cup in the morning. Win-win in our book!

Make them feel at home.

We all travel and have to stay away from home at many points in our lives. Don’t you wish for all those things that make home, home? Why not provide those for your guests? Shampoo, soaps, towels, extra sheets and pillows, hair dryers, iron, razors, snacks, water and of course fresh flowers all go a long way in making anyone feel welcome.
